Sage Blog Oct 7, 2011

Hey Followers!
Thought I would try and get this blog rolling, so here we go!
I, personally, have never been to Europe before. I had heard about a company that takes American players and gets them professional volleyball job in Europe back in April. The time seemed to be perfect to give it a shot. So I flew to Slovenia and tried out. A day later I was offered my position now, on the vordingborg volleyball klub. I was tickled. I couldn't believe I made a team. Everything has been new and exciting. Being in Europe so far has humbled me a lot. I now realize how easy it is in America, maybe not for the best, but living out here makes me appreciate more what I have back home, but also makes me want to move to Europe and live abroad for a few years, if not forever. It's so nice over here. Most of all the people I have met have been really nice and understanding and very accommodating to me speaking only English. I just wish I knew more danish, or at least a second language, but alas, I do not. Hopefully I can pick it up a little while I'm here though.

The volleyball aspect has been great. I played at University of Nevada for 3 years and have been on a 2 year break, so this klub was a great place to start to get back in shape and fine tune my skills. All of the Danish girls are really nice and very hard working. It has been really great getting to know them. Practices are hard, but in a very good way. I can tell I am definitely getting better even though I am a little rusty.

Living at the Bosei Sports College, while quiet, is absolutely beautiful. It's a nice getaway at times and when we need to shake our tail feathers we have a car that was given to us to which we have named Donald that gets us to copenhagen or vordingborg or anywhere else we may need. It is a luxury I was not expecting to have and am very thankful for it. A lot of great memories that I will never forget and hold dear to my heart are being created and I am just happy to even be experiencing such an amazing opportunity. I'm loving every minute of it, the good and the not so good.

I just wanted to get this started, I can write more later about more specifics.
Until next time! (make sure you come see our games!!!)
